KOCH INDUSTRIES FINALISES PURCHASE OF GUARDIAN

Industry and business publications report that Guardian Industries Corp., among the world’s largest float glass manufacturers, is now wholly owned by Koch Industries Inc., with all official approvals confirmed, lifting Koch’s initial holding of 44.5% acquired 5 years ago, to full ownership. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Guardian began in 1932 as a small windshield company in Detroit and has grown to become an acknowledged leader in multiple industries around the world. As detailed on their web site, they were the first company to enter the U.S. primary glass industry in nearly 50 years when the first float glass plant was opened in Michigan in 1970.

Plants meantime established all around the world produce high performance glass designed for architectural, residential, interior, transportation and technical glass applications, including special high performance energy control coated glass designed to meet the toughest architectural and aesthetic challenges.

With Guardian in the portfolio the Koch Industries group apparently now employ more than 120,000 people globally, somewhat over half of those in the United States. Guardian have nearly 150 locations in more than 25 countries.
