CHUCKLE OF THE WEEK

Employment at Ashton Industrial

I received a letter from the Department for Work & Pensions, stating that they
suspected I was not paying my employees enough and they would send an inspector
to interview me.
He turned up yesterday and said "OK Mr Ashton, tell me about your staff" .

"Well,"  I said "there's the production staff. I pay them £500 a week, and they
get free lunch and 5 weeks paid vacation.  The office staff get £400 a week, free
lunch, free coffee all day, and an extra week off at Christmas.  Then there's
the cleaner. She gets £190 a week, along with free coffee and an early finish on
Fridays.

There's also the company half-wit, the general hand.  He works a 16 hour day, does
90% of the work, earns about £25 a week, along with a bottle of gin, and, very
occasionally, gets to sleep with my wife."

"OK That's who I want to talk to," said the inspector, “the half-wit."
"That'll be me then," I said.

WET AND DRY GRINDING SCORES AT GLOBAL GLASS INDUSTRIES
Sunday, 04 October 2009

Some specialist glass coatings are easily damaged by water and manual handling, so the preference is for dry arrissing/seaming of edges when preparing the glass for tempering.

On the other hand, a finer finish is achieved, particularly on thicker glass, when wet grinding with diamond belts.

The brand new factory of Global Glass in Rak Al Khaimah, UAE has therefore decided to order BOTH.
